I'm on Day 35 now. Near Lincoln Beach, Oregon. I am a long way from home.
Yesterday, I spent some time at Oregon's sand dunes. This place is kinda like Crooms, back home. Big sand and UTV's everywhere. Campgrounds are flooded with motorcycles and side x sides. All with a big red flag on the back. This place had one thing Crooms doesn't...... a desolate beautiful beach that allowed me to run a nice little 5k in chilly 68 degrees! Fan-freakin-tastic!
A weird thing happened there, I came upon this bench hidden along the dunes by the beach.....and no other than Superman was there! We talked about life, the planet Krypton, and women. He said he really misses Lois and needs to get back out there. I gave him some advice and told him he can date, but he needs not to use his x-ray vision to look through their clothes anymore. I told him earthling women do not like that kinda thing! 😜
This trip has been way more than I could ever dream of. My soul is so pleased. The beauty of this great country is taken for granted way too much. I have no desire to travel to any other place. There is something about driving every mile and getting out and actually covering a few miles during a run, that is special.
Being in a big airplane flying from Orlando to California will get you there quick, but you missed the real experience of the journey. We, as humans, have forgotten that everything must be for the journey and not the destination. The joy of life can not be dictated simply by time or a clock or appointments. It must be lived, breathed in, and felt on the flesh.... and in my case, as much flesh as possible! 😛
I will make it to the farthest point of the continental United States, from Orlando, Florida, very soon. The far north corner of Washington State, along the ocean, awaits me. 🙂
Wahoooo. I am at or close to my halfway point of a vacation I have always dreamed about.
Rock on, you beautiful people! 🙂
